Conductor Bio:
Steven Hoffman is a music educator, performer, and creator from the Philadelphia area.
Steven works with musicians of all ages in the classroom, at festivals, and in the community. He is passionate about empowering and enriching the community through teaching and performing music. Steven also performs, produces, and teaches in the contemporary a cappella community.
A proud alumnus of HaZamir Philadelphia, Steven served the chapter as a Teen Leader (2013–14), Intern (2017–19), and Assistant Conductor (2019–20). He conducted HaZamir New Haven (2020–21) prior to assuming his current role as the Conductor of HaZamir Philadelphia (2021–present). As a Zamir Conducting Fellow, Steven studies choral conducting and Jewish musical leadership under HaZamir’s own Maestro Matthew Lazar. Steven has recently conducted onstage at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Citizens Bank Park, and the North American Jewish Choral Festival.

Steven earned a B.M. in Music Education with a voice concentration from Temple University in 2019. He is currently working toward an M.M. in Music Education from The University of the Arts. Steven now teaches choir and general music at a public magnet high school in Philadelphia; he previously taught elementary and middle school music.
