Steven Hoffman is a music educator, performer, and creator from the Philadelphia area. He works with musicians of all ages in the classroom, on the stage, and at festivals. Steven has been the Conductor of HaZamir and HaZaPrep Philadelphia since 2021. He is also a proud alumnus of HaZamir Philadelphia—serving the chapter as a Teen Leader, Intern, and Assistant Conductor—and briefly served as the conductor of HaZamir New Haven in 2020–21.
Steven earned a B.M. in Music Education with a voice concentration from Temple University in 2019. He is currently pursuing an M.M. in Music Education from Temple University. Steven teaches choir, piano, guitar, and musical theater at a high school in Philadelphia; he previously taught elementary and middle school music.
Steven has studied choral conducting and Jewish musical leadership under HaZamir’s own Maestro Matthew Lazar. He has also studied conducting with Dr. Julia Zavadsky, Dr. Mitos Andaya Hart, and Dr. Paul Rardin. Steven has recently conducted onstage at Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Met Philadelphia, Citizens Bank Park, and the North American Jewish Choral Festival.
